Matrix New World Continues Accelerated Growth of Environmental and Groundwater Services in Arizona Mirroring Explosive Growth Nationwide

Matrix follows strategic path to fast-tracked growth.

Phoenix, AZ – Matrix New World Engineering (Matrix) today announced unprecedented growth and continued strategic expansion in its Arizona (AZ) market. Within the last six months, Matrix increased its engineering and scientist staff in AZ by nearly 25% and added an office in Tucson, AZ to complement its already strong presence in Phoenix and Prescott. Continuing to build on its industry-respected groundwater modeling and site investigation and remediation expertise, this continued momentum in the Arizona market speaks to significant market opportunity and demand for the environmental and engineering services provided by Matrix.

“We experienced some incredible growth last year, and we are seeing strong growth opportunities in 2020 and beyond,” said Dennis Petrocelli, PG, Senior Vice President. "Now in our 30th year, Matrix experienced a more than 60% revenue growth in the past five years, a 36% growth of staff, and opened three new office locations – all done profitably and with an emphasis on the services that are most in demand. These services will continue to be needed in 2020 and beyond, and our Arizona locations are experiencing this need firsthand.”

Matrix continues to hire specialized engineering and scientific professionals to complement its already talented staff.

“In Arizona, Matrix continues to hire individuals who will further our growth in the site investigation and remediation and groundwater modeling areas,” added Petrocelli. “We plan a similar growth throughout all of our locations, continuing support for these and other multi-disciplinary initiatives, such as climate change resiliency efforts and private sector environmental clients.”

Recent hires to support the AZ growth and demand include:

Project Engineer Morgan Hayes is knowledgeable in sustainable energies, wastewater reclamation, and industrial ecology. Part of an extensive research effort on the Frito-Lay Casa Grande facility and their strides toward becoming near net zero, Ms. Hayes completed comprehensive research related to Frito-Lay’s efforts to close their supply chain loop in order to reduce their carbon footprint. She is a graduate of Arizona State University, has a MS in Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, and a BS in Biochemistry.

A graduate of Arizona State University, Environmental Scientist Brianna Murataya is well-versed in groundwater sampling; soil vapor probe installation, soil sampling and data analysis; industrial hygiene, including asbestos, air quality, and noise monitoring; Phase I and II, LSI work; and NEPA. She is also experienced in regulatory agency correspondence with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Idaho Fish and Wildlife Service, Nevada Department of Wildlife, New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

University of Arizona alumnus Nicholas Randle is a Computer Modeler/Hydrologist with proficiency in an array of modeling codes and substantial GIS experience.  Nicholas holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Hydrology.  Nicholas’ field experience includes water and soil sampling, aquifer testing, and measuring water levels, which gives him a solid foundation in hydrogeology.

Environmental Scientist Ashleigh Elkins has extensive environmental research and data analysis experience. She served as a research assistant at the Florida Institute of Oceanography, the Biological Sciences and Biological Engineering departments of the University of Florida, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and interned for NASA. Ms. Elkins will continue assisting the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) with their Tank Site Improvement Program.

Geologist Ryan Cleary will continue to support field work for environmental and groundwater production well drilling. A graduate of Arizona State University, Mr. Cleary is also experienced in Phase I and II environmental site assessments, asbestos inspections, noise and vibration monitoring, asbestos abatement oversight, microbial surveys, indoor air quality testing, and soil sampling. He is also well-versed in site reconnaissance, field observations, and field data collection.

Daniel Robinson will continue to support field work as the onsite hydrogeologist for environmental and groundwater production well drilling. With substantial experience in GIS, Mr. Robinson is well-versed in ArcGIS/ArcMap and QGIS.

Environmental Scientist Summer Igo will provide technical expertise for new and existing environmental work. With a BS in Environmental Science and experience as both an Environmental Science Specialist and Biological Field Technician, Ms. Igo is knowledgeable in environmental laws and regulations, interpreting analytical results, and the collection and analysis of environmental soil and groundwater samples.
