Matrix to Present at the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) Aquatic Science Meeting on February 17-22, 2013, New Orleans, LA

(Matrix), as part of the Restore the Earth Foundation (REF) team (, is pleased to announce their platform presentation entitled "GULF SAVERS® BAG: AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH FOR MARSH RESTORATION AT POPCORN BEACH, PASS A LOUTRE WMA, VENICE, LA.”  The presentation by Lawrence Malizzi, Vice President of Matrix will be in “SS40 Perspectives on Restoration in the Gulf of Mexico session, on February 20th at 2:15pm.

The presentation highlights the success of utilizing the Gulf Savers® Bag for marsh restoration.  REF designed and deployed the Gulf Savers® Bag at Popcorn Beach, Pass a Loutre Wildlife Management Area (WMA), Venice, LA. The self-contained bag is composed of a biodegradable shell filled with native plants with a site-specific custom mix of soil and nutrients. Matrix has provided the monitoring support for the project and scaling of natural resource credits. The success of the bags demonstrates that they are a more cost-effective planting method than bare root plugs.
