Groundwater Monitoring & Soil Vapor Monitoring, Operations & Maintenance of Remediation Systems, Goodyear, Arizona

Matrix is the principal remediation consultant and contractor for groundwater remediation at one of the Western United States’ largest Superfund Sites. Groundwater at the site is contaminated with chlorinated solvents, trichloroethene (TCE), and the solid rocket propellant perchlorate as a result of the manufacturing and testing of components used in defense and aerospace technologies. Contamination spans across an approximately three-square mile area.

Matrix has been engaged with the remediation for over a decade, and has designed, built, operated and maintained the remediation systems. Matrix maintains a field office and ten staff members onsite to perform the required groundwater monitoring and groundwater treatment system oversight, including responsibility for the continuous daily operation and maintenance of five large scale groundwater treatment systems (GTS) and one soil vapor extraction (SVE) system for the project. The five GTS include one located on-site and four that are operating in remote locations for plume control and containment. The total extracted groundwater
