NYC Parks, Faber Park Improvements, Staten Island, New York

The purpose of this project was to provide improvements to Faber Park such as the construction of basketball courts, a spray park, a scenic overlook, paths, and lighting.

Matrix New World Engineering’s (Matrix) survey responsibilities on this project consisted of a boundary, topographic, and utility survey of Faber Park including full street survey using Leica P-40 Laser Scanner and conventional survey methods to complete the field work. Underground utility maps included: water, sanitary, storm drainage, electric, telephone and fiber optic lines. Existing condition survey maps and spot elevations for the site. For this project, Matrix utilized state of the art scanning technology, robotic and reflectorless total stations in the performance of the surveys. The survey map was prepared using Cyclone, Cloudworx, and AutoCAD Civil 3D mapping software. The map included a contour interval of 1 foot, location of all improvements on the property, underground utilities, rights of way, and easements affecting the property.
