with the Applied Engineering Group.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – January 16, 2017 – Matrix New World Engineering, PC (Matrix) today announced that Nicholas DeCotiis, PE, has joined Matrix as a Senior Engineer with the Applied Engineering group.

DeCotiis arrives at Matrix with extensive civil and structural engineering experience, most notably in the waterfront and municipal government areas.

He most recently served as the borough engineer in Belmar, N.J. and, in 2012, served as assistant municipal engineer for Brick Township, N.J. DeCotiis has extensive waterfront design experience throughout the New York metro region, including industrial, commercial, and public marine infrastructure projects.

“My goal at Matrix is to elevate the technical and efficiency level of the Applied Engineering group, and to expand its operational capabilities to include a larger presence in the construction management and inspection marketplace,“ DeCotiis said.

In Belmar, DeCotiis served as the lead professional for a host of capital improvements including urban streetscapes, infrastructure upgrades, open space improvements, drainage and flood prevention projects. He also served as engineer for upgrades at the Belmar Marina that included state and federally sponsored expansions and upgrades to the world-class facility.

DeCotiis was also instrumental in helping Belmar make preparations for its municipal properties prior to the landfall of Superstorm Sandy, and was a key player in the Borough’s recovery from the damage that ensued. His interaction with state and federal regulatory and funding played a key role in the Borough’s heralded recovery from the storm.

In Brick, DeCotiis oversaw in-house construction projects and a variety of capital improvements. He also provided engineering support for the town’s Building and Public Works departments.

His civil and structural design engineering work includes notable projects within the New York metro-region, including NYCEDC-sponsored marine infrastructure, multiple municipal marina, bridge replacements, amusement park facilities, municipal public works facilities, transportation infrastructure, and public education facilities. In short, Mr. Decotiis is a talented, multi-disciplined engineer prepared to take on the marketplace’s most challenging projects. Matrix is privileged to have him join our team.
